Aspiring and seasoned storytellers gather in an informal, supportive environment to hone their craft at this monthly event hosted by Quimper Storytelling Guild. Afternoon begins with s Guild member introducing an exercise or activity for building skills in crafting and delivering a story for listeners Next is a Story Swap, where 3 to 5 people share present an oral story they are refining or want to perform for an audience; each teller has ~ 5 to 7 minutes. After each short story, the teller can have the listeners provide a brief feeding of the story and/or the teller. A handout guides listeners in providing constructive feedback.. Refreshments, social time, and planning discussion follows. 2020 dates for Sunday StoryCraft StorySwap are: Jan. 26, Feb. 23, April 19, May 17, and June 28. Sunday March 15 will attend the Village by the Sea Storytelling Festival in Langley on Whidbey Island.
Stories are how we make meaning of our lives and our world. They make us laugh, think–and teach us how to be human. The mission of the Quimper Storytelling Guild is to foster appreciation for the art and tradition of storytelling in Jefferson County communities. Some of us are just start in our path of storytelling, while others have been telling for audiences for many years.The Guild is in its 4th season.
