Art in the Library
Friday, November 22, 2019

Everyone is invited to the Art in the Library opening reception on Friday, October 18, 6:00 to 7:30 pm, at the Port Townsend Public Library, 1220 Lawrence Street. The reception will also mark the 106th anniversary of the library’s 1913 Carnegie Building.

Portraits in oil by the late Lucy Vane will be exhibited in the Carnegie Reading Room and first floor. Lucy used beautiful colors for these portraits of Port Townsend residents. Many of the subjects are not identified; Lucy’s son Dave is hoping that exhibit visitors will recognize them.

The late artist Robert Reedy’s work, several that are small monuments and travel journals, will be exhibited in the Charlie Moore Art Case and nearby. Robert taught art in many places, including South Africa, which is the subject of much of his work.

Nhoj Yesdnil paints with acrylic on canvas. Many of his recent pieces are imaginative fantasy scenes featuring animals, trees, and tree houses.

Richard Jesse Watson’s painting of NhoJ Yesdnil, which has been exhibited at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, will be exhibited in the Carnegie Staircase with Yesdnil’s work.

The exhibit will be open until February 14. Please join us for the opening reception and visit the art whenever you are in the library.

The Art in the Library program is available because of a partnership between Northwind Arts Center, the Port Townsend Public Library, and the City of Port Townsend. Please contact Polly Lyle at pollylyle@me.com if you would like addition information.
