John "Greyhound" Maxwell Acoustic Blues Concert
Thursday, November 07, 2019, 07:00pm - 09:30pm

Acclaimed acoustic blues artist John "Greyhound" Maxwell of Port Townsend will be playing a benefit concert for the Jefferson County Democrats.

The public is invited. Admission to the "Fun with Dems" fundraiser is $25 per person at the door.

Maxwell has opened for several well-known groups, including Taj Mahal, Keb' Mo', Ramblin' Jack Elliott and Maria Muldaur. In 2018, he earned the Washington Blues Society award for Best Acoustic Blues Guitar.

Maxwell released an all-acoustic album, "Even Good Dogs Get the Blues," in October 2018 that features eight originals and four classic cover songs. A review at Northwest Music Scene said, "All his acclaimed skills are on display on his new self-produced album …. Maxwell is a specialist on the resonator guitar with a mastery of fingerpicking and slide technique that accompany his silky tenor vocals."

Calling the album "a wondrous and rare gem," Blues Blast Magazine said Maxwell "combines his warm, inviting voice with his amazing acumen at acoustic slide guitar playing.... It's his deft slide work that shines here. Try not tapping your foot when he gets moving on the strings. He surely makes it sound so easy and smooth."
