Northwind Arts Center welcomes Janna Marit and friends, Tuesday October 8 at 2:00pm, in a free concert at San Juan Commons. The Arts to Elders concert series is an outreach service of Northwind Arts Center in cooperation with the region’s senior care centers. The series is funded by The Rotary Club of Port Townsend and an anonymous donor.
"Janna Marit's music creates an atmosphere for the imagination to fill. Her songs feel like a vacation from the serious – even as the lyrics get around to serious stuff – sometimes sweetly hopeful, sometimes pointedly indicting the obtuse habits of humanity."
"In her circusy cabaret style, Janna Marit sings charmingly sweet songs with a voice reminiscent of the jazz era."
Janna Marit is a Port Townsend-based singer-songwriter. She studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, CA, and performed with a puppet troupe and a sketch comedy group in Los Angeles. She appeared locally in the critically acclaimed Key City Theater musical production of “Jacques Brel is Alive and Well.” She is also a visual artist with a particular passion for painting portraits and drawing the human figure. Since 2005, Janna has been performing her own songs. Her first album 'Blush in Blue' was produced by her husband, Greenlandic singer-songwriter Simon Lynge, with whom she has toured internationally.
Janna will be joined by George Radebaugh on keyboards, and Zach Parker on guitar and percussion.
