Life Behind Barbed Wire
Tuesday, August 20, 2019, 04:30pm - 06:00pm

Joanne Muruyama presents LIFE BEHIND BARBED WIRE – the story of her family’s experience in a Japanese-American concentration camp during World War II. The story is told in her mother’s words, accompanied by slides and her award-winning quilt. Joanne will also talk about the current strong support of the Japanese-American community nationwide as they speak out about the atrocities at our border. Get inspired by first watching this video of Japanese elders protesting the use of Fort Sill as a detention center for migrant children.

A week after this demonstration, Oklahoma’s senator announced that Fort Sill would NOT be used to house migrant children.
