2019 Spirit of the Yule

Port Townsend’s Musical Holiday Tradition

A love letter to the Pacific Northwest, this new interpretation of the classic Dickensian tale of a curmudgeon haunted by ghosts and changing her evil ways kicks up its heels and delivers a holiday treat for young and old. A raucous musical odyssey – You’ll LOVE the YULE!

Experience an old story told with new music and real-life characters: "Spirit of the Yule," Denise Winter and Linda Dowdell's original musical, updated for 2019. Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" inspired the tale, but instead of old Scrooge, our heroine is Miz Henrietta Maynard, an actual 19th-century entrepreneur in Port Townsend. With Marley's ghost, Tiny Tim and an ensemble of supporting actors and original songs, she goes through a Christmastime transformation.

Directed by Brendan Chambers, Musical Direction by Linda Dowdell, Choreography by Maggie Bulkley

Music and Lyrics by Linda Dowdell, Book by Denise Winter & Linda Dowdell
