Olympic Music Festival: New Worlds

The Olympic Music Festival presents a summer season of concerts in partnership with Centrum at Fort Worden State Park in beautiful Port Townsend, WA. World class chamber music performances take place at the Wheeler Theater Saturdays and Sundays at 2 PM, with dates in July, August, and September. Dvořák String Quintet in E-flat major, Op. 97 "American"
In 1893, Dvořák was in Iowa and had the opportunity to hear the music of the local Native Americans. This chance encounter inspired him to write the famed American Quartet and the String Quintet, Op. 97, two works that share a similar palette of colors and emotions.
