ACCORDING TO AUNT LENA
In this season of family gatherings with memories of relatives from times gone by swirling among the remnants of autumn leaves, a night of stories by Aunt Lena is in order. Master storyteller, songwriter-singer and author Anne-Louise Sterry will bring an energetic incarnation of her beloved relative as featured teller for December 6th First Friday Story Night. Sterry’s program, “According to Aunt Lena”, will include hilarious, joyful, and authentic vignettes by her American-Italian heritage alter ego whose able to cut to the chase in any topic and she certainly doesn’t mince words and loves to give advice. Anne-Louise encourages attendees to “bring a kazoo”.
Hosted by the Quimper Storytelling Guild, the evening includes a set of shorts stories told by attendees who sign-up upon arrival, and a closing story-song on the evening’s theme by the Emcee. First Friday StoryNight is held monthly from 7 to 9 pm at Port Townsend Friends’ Meetinghouse at 1841 Sheridan Street, suggested sustaining donation is $10 and all are welcome.

First Friday StoryNight, in its 11th season, is a communal exploration of the art and ritual of the oral tradition including the old myths, folktales, fairy tales, ballads, family, personal and modern stories. On third or fourth Sundays, the Guild hosts Sunday StoryCrafting StorySwap for aspiring and experienced tellers to hone their craft from 2 to 4:30 pm at the Port Townsend Library Learning Center (1220 Lawrence Street). The guild’s mission is to enhance the craft of storytelling to foster the many benefits of continuing the oral tradition in communities of NE Olympic Peninsula.
