The North Olympic Salmon Coalition (NOSC) and the North Olympic Land Trust (NOLT) seek volunteers to help plant native trees along Siebert Creek on January 26, 2019.
The Siebert Creek Conservation Area is a 38.5 acre parcel protected by the North Olympic Land Trust. Approximately 1500 feet of Siebert Creek flows through the conservation area.
The main stem and tributaries of Siebert Creek support coho salmon, winter steelhead and cutthroat trout. Revegetation along Siebert Creek will help restore fish habitat that has seen a lot of degradation due to human activities, including logging, placement of road culverts, and overfishing.
A limited supply of tools and gloves will be provided at the planting, however feel free to bring your own! The event will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will also include a short tour of the conservation area. Snacks, tea and coffee provided. Bring warm, waterproof clothes and boots, water and a lunch.
Access to the planting site is off Old Olympic Hwy. Parking is limited so please plan to carpool or catch a ride with our passenger van leaving from Port Angeles.
Please RSVP at nosc.org to receive location details.
