Western Washington University is conducting a feasibility study at the request of the WA State Legislature to learn more about the needs for higher education on the Peninsula. The consultants that have been hired to conduct the study will be here next week. They have been working with the City of Port Townsend to pull a meeting together to be held July 26th at 9 AM. at the Cotton Bulding, downtown PT.
Please attend if you can, and invite anyone you feel would like to have a voice in the conversation. Even with such short notice, we’d love to get as many people there as possible. Please forward this invitation to anyone you know who is interested in increasing educational opportunities on the Peninsula. (FYI-A recent book by Atlantic’s James Fallows and his wife, Deb points out the importance of institutes of higher education to small town success. Check out items # 6 & 7!)
I realize that many folks have plans during the summer and may not be able to attend on short notice like this, but even if you can’t come, please spread the word. Fortunately, there will be an online survey going out a little bit later, and WWU’s President Randhawa has invited comments to be emailed directly to him.
Thanks in advance for your help!
