Third Sunday Story Swap
Sunday, May 20, 2018, 02:00pm - 04:30pm

Quimper Storytelling Guild welcomes aspiring and seasoned storytellers to Third Sunday Story Swap

With the colors of fall, we kickoff our 3rd season of gathering for aspiring and experienced storytellers to develop and enhance our craft in an informal and supportive setting. Hope you'll join us and extend invitation to other storytellers you know.

Third Sunday's new format reflects discussion by the active participants from last year. Afternoon begins with a 90-minute Story Swap of 5 to 10 minutes short oral stories; sign-up on a 1st come basis. Each teller has the option of listeners to “feed the story” or “feed the teller” after their telling. In this way the teller can recieve constructive input from listeners highlight noteworthy element / character / moment of the story, OR what about the way the teller enhanced the conveying of the story. Stories are told, not read; use of character voices, gestures, music, and props to enhance the telling of a story are welcomed. Following the story swap at 3:30pm will be refreshments, social time and Guild business discussion.

Stories are how we make meaning of our lives and our world. They make us laugh, think–and teach us how to be human. The mission of Quimper Storytelling Guild is to foster an appreciation for the art and tradition of storytelling in our Jefferson County communities. Some of us are just starting out on the path of storytelling, while others have been telling for many years. Some are folklore enthusiasts; others just love to listen to a well-spun tale. We welcome both story listeners and story tellers, because you can’t have one without the other! Quimper Story Guild began in March 2017. While our current activities are held in Port Townsend venues, people from the various communities of Jefferson County and beyond participate.
