Russian Literature I, 19th Century
Tuesday, February 13, 2018, 04:00pm - 06:00pm

Each week the class will read about 70 pages of prose and poetry, including excerpts from major works; discuss major themes, ideas, and context; and share the passages and thoughts that we particularly like. Our exceptional reader provides brief biographies and background for each author and selection.

Materials: Students must purchase The Portable Nineteenth Century Russian Reader” edited by George Gibian (a Penguin book that sells for about $20.00 on Amazon).

Galen Clark’s academic and professional background is in Russian language, literature, translation, as well as English and American literature. He has read many of our book selections in the Russian. On occasion he will read some of the poetry in Russian to give the class a “feel” for the rhythm and music of Russian poetry. He looks forward to lively class discussion full of questions and observations. Contact him at: oseafog@gmail.com (preferred) or 970-210-1805.
