Concerts in the Woods: Squirrel Butter
Sunday, December 02, 2018, 03:00pm - 05:00pm

Squirrel Butter, husband and wife duo of Charlie Beck & Charmaine Slaven, started performing together after meeting at a music festival in 2005. Sharing a deep love of traditional music, they explore the genres of old-time, early bluegrass, blues, country, & cajun while adding their unique perspective to these traditions and threading these influences into their original compositions. Multi-instrumentalists, they play banjo, guitar, fiddle, steel guitar, step-dance, and sing in harmony. Occasionally, Squirrel Butter appears with guest musicians to form a trio or quartet. Currently both members of honky tonk project, The Lucky Shots, and were also half of venerable string band, The Tallboys. They are anchors of the old-time music, honky-tonk, & square dance communities in the Pacific NW and beyond.

Coyle is a small, rural community at the end of the Toandos Peninsula, 14 miles south of the Hood Canal Bridge. It's a ferry ride plus an hour's drive straight west of downtown Seattle. Our pride and joy is the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center operated by the Jefferson County Parks & Recreation District. It's a beautiful wood and glass structure with wonderful acoustics. Since 2009 it has become a “destination” venue for music lovers. We currently host approximately two concerts per month all year around featuring the best of folk, Americana, singer/songwriter, Appalachian, bluegrass, Celtic, blues, country and more. The room has seating for 65+ people. These concerts are for all ages and are done on a by-donation basis. We always serve complimentary cookies and coffee at intermission to our guests. See: www.coyleconcerts.com for more information.
