Northwind Reading Series: Tina Schumann and Jed Myers

On Thursday, November 8, Northwind Reading Series features Tina Schumann and Jed Myers reading from TWO COUNTRIES, an anthology centered around immigration. The readings begin at 7 pm in Northwind Arts Center, 701 Water St.

Tina Schumann is the author of three poetry collections, As If which was awarded the Stephen Dunn Poetry Prize, Requiem. A Patrimony of Fugues which won the Diode Editions Chapbook Contest for 2016, and Praising the Paradox which was a finalist in the National Poetry Series. She curated and edited the anthology Two Countries. U.S. Daughters and Sons of Immigrant Parents. Schumann's work received the 2009 American Poet Prize from The American Poetry Journal, a pushcart nomination and finalist status in the 2013 Annual Poetry Contest, as well as honorable mention in The Atlantic poetry contest. She was a featured poet at the 2014 Skagit River Poetry Festival and is Assistant Director at Her poems have appeared in Ascent, Atticus Review, Cimarron Review, Midwest Quarterly, The Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine, and Verse Daily.

Jed Myers was born in Philadelphia in 1952 to parents of Eastern European Jewish heritage. He studied Creative Writing with an emphasis in poetry at Tufts University, graduating in 1974, and went on, after medical training, to pursue a career in psychiatry. He settled in Seattle, where he and his wife raised three children. He kept writing poems, but did not seek publication until the events of September 11th, 2001. Since that time, his work has been widely published. For several years now he has been active in maintaining a consortium of music-and-poetry open-mic cabarets called Easy Speak Seattle.

Northwind is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that sponsors visual, musical and literary art events and education on the Olympic Peninsula.
