The Improv-a-thon: 24 Hours of Fun
At press time, several groups are scheduled to appear and perform.
Many local actors grace the stage at The Improv-a-thon. Improvisation goes on all through the night, and indeed, many people stay over. There is some food, but if you're planning on an overnight, you should bring something to eat, and a sleeping bag.
"My favorite memory is watching a fully improvised musical that happened at 3 am at The Improv-a-thon, three years ago," says Pipia, adding, "It was a transcendent moment."
Everyone can join, "The Improv-a-thon," beginner to advanced, whether or not you are a student at The Chameleon: now or ever. All are welcome.
The Improvathon is free. Free to watch, free to participate. And this year's event will benefit The Chameleon. This the first time that sponsors were sought. Indeed, nine sponsors have by stepped up, donating money that will be used to get three new dimmer packs for the lighting system!
"I joked that we'd be rehearsing in the dark, and these awesome folks said, 'no way!'" Joey thanks the following businesses for this support in making these new dimmers possible: Cathy Formusa Massage, John L. Scott, Edensaw Wood, The Car Wash, Crossroads Music, Daily Computers, Reinstra Clinic, The Commanders Beach House, SOS Printing, Olympus.net.
The Chameleon Theater is located at 800 West Park Avenue in the Port Townsend Business Park near the Department of Motor Vehicles. Admission is by suggested donation. Reservations are not necessary. There is plenty of parking. For more info you may call the box office: 360-774-2202 or firstname.lastname@example.org. See you in the theater!
