PORT TOWNSEND: Northwind Arts Center, KEy CITY PUBLIC THEATRE and THE PORT TOWNSEND ARTS COMMISSION Present:
PT SHORTS: The PT Shorts program, originally founded by local luminary Don White, and developed by Port Townsend Arts Commission (PTAC), has been produced by Key City Public Theatre (KCPT) since 2006, and hosted by Northwind Arts Center since 2014. PT Shorts are free programs of dramatic readings of contemporary and historical short works of literature, read by actors and good orators.
KCPT and Northwind Arts Center partner to provide this long-running program as part of the Northwind Reading Series. Performances are in Northwind's downtown gallery location. Our program has featured short works of fiction and creative non-fiction from writers such as Sarah Vowell, Midge Raymond, Mark Twain, George Saunders, Dan Chaon, Sheila Bender, Greg Bear and Dave Eggers, among others.
Performances are Third Thursdays at 7:00pm at Northwind Arts Center, 701 Water Street, Downtown Port Townsend. (PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE)
Thurdsay July 19th, 7pm at Northwind Arts Center. Featuring the short fiction works of PATRICIA HENLEY: from Other Heartbreaks
Patricia Henley is the author of two chapbooks of poetry, four short story collections, two novels, a stage play, and numerous essays. Her first book of stories, Friday Night at Silver Star (Graywolf, 1986), was the winner of the Montana First Book Award. Her first novel, Hummingbird House (MacMurray & Beck, 1999), was a finalist for the National Book Award. Engine Books published her fourth collection of stories — Other Heartbreaks — in 2011. Her play — "If I Hold My Tongue" — was produced at Compass Rose Theater in Annapolis in September 2015, as part of the DC Women's Voices Theater Festival. It was given a staged reading at The Kennedy Center on September 5, 2015. Patricia is working on a new play and prose poems. She lives in Frostburg, Maryland.
Short stories will be read by Key City Public Theatre actors.
