18th Annual Fort Worden Children's Choir Festival

Fort Worden Children's Choir FestivalFounded in 2000, the Fort Worden Children's Choir Festival brings together some of the top children's choirs from throughout the US for a 2 day event each Memorial Day Weekend. This year's festival will feature internationally acclaimed children's choir director & composer, Henry Leck, from Indianapolis, Indiana (read more about Henry in the attached document!)

2019 Fort Worden Festival participating choirs:
- Spectrum Choral Academy – Youth Chorus & Children's Chorus, Gig Harbor, WA (directed by Stephanie Charbonneau)
- Seattle Children's Chorus - Intermezzo Choir, Seattle, WA (directed by Kris Mason)
- Rainier Youth Chorus – Bella Voce & Colla Voce Choirs, Kent, WA (directed by Leora Schwitters and Amy Ballard)
- Alaska Youth Choir, Juneau, AL (directed by Richard Moore)
- Campbell River Children's Choir, Vancouver Island, British Columbia (directed by Jennifer Abbott)

Each choir works through-out the year on selected festival music and well as preparing songs that the choirs will present individually during the concert. Friday and Saturday are filled will joint rehearsals, shared meals and social activities including a fun dress-up themed dance. Rehearsals prepare the singers for the Festival Concert taking place on Saturday. The concert will feature each choir performing individually before taking the stage together under the baton of Guest Conductor, Henry Leck, for the final six combined songs. Julie Cole Mandery (Festival Accompanist from Port Orchard), will accompany the combined choirs. The Fort Worden Children's Choir Festival Concert is an area favorite each year.
