The 2018 sailboat racing season opens with this fun race for the hearty, a well-loved, regional tradition sponsored by the Northwest Maritime Center (NWMC) and Wooden Boat Foundation. Boats of all construction are welcome. As always, the race is open to folks who would like to try sailboat racing but do not have a boat themselves. Non-boat owners are encouraged to show up at the Skippers’ Meeting to be connected with skippers looking for crew. A free haul-out will be awarded to two lucky sailors, courtesy of SEA Marine and the Port of Port Townsend.
Registration forms are currently available upstairs at the NWMC at 431 Water Street, and online at nwmaritime.org/shipwrights. Last-minute registrations will be accepted between 8:00-9:00 AM on Saturday, February 24. Complimentary coffee will be provided courtesy of Sunrise Coffee. Registration and the Skippers’ Meeting are held upstairs at the NWMC in the Weissblum Heritage Building (the yellow building). The race starts at 12:00 noon on Port Townsend Bay. An awards ceremony will be held at approximately 5:00 PM upstairs at the NWMC. Beer and snacks will be available.
NEW THIS YEAR: the Regatta Bar! Come upstairs at the NWMC to enjoy a drink while you watch the race.
