PTSA: An Afternoon with Artists Max Grover and Nancy Van Allen
Friday, April 21, 2017, 03:00pm - 05:00pm

On April 21st, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM meet accomplished artists Max Grover and Nancy Van Allen at Port Townsend School of the Arts, Building 306, (near Madrona Gym and the Maintenance buildings) Fort Worden. Join us for coffee, tea and pies. Afterwards, Max and Nancy will give a slideshow presentation about their artistic processes and the things that inspire them. At the end, one piece of art from each artist will go to a lucky winner drawn from the hat! Maximum guests 30. Suggested donation $55, check payable to Centrum.

Max is best known for his whimsical sense of humor and use of bright primary colors. He is a nationally acclaimed painter and book illustrator. Max’s painting style is full of charm and inspires the young at heart. His art draws from his numerous memorabilia. Max had a recent show at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art called "Max Grover: Hunter, Gatherer, Painter. Max will talk about how his personal collections are used as inspiration for his paintings.

“Almost Altered Reality”—Light falling on life, inspires Nancy’s work in mixed media. Her reverence for Mother Earth guides her inspiration. Nancy worked as a graphic artist for 30 years and uses her skills on the computer to work out her designs. She will talk about this process and what inspires her art. Her work tends towards super-realism with a tinge of surrealism. To quote an observer of her art, “Nancy creates a world of delight that slips in to sensuality and wonder”
