MONDAY–FRIDAY, JUNE 26–30, 1–3 PM
Going somewhere special soon or attending a memorable event? This class will enable you to capture your unique experience in photographs. We will study and apply the agility and decisive eye of a documentarian to take pictures without posing or intruding. We will use the stillness of an aesthetic eye, realizing the elements that make up unforgettable and personal pictures.
We will review how your camera (or cellphone camera) operates. We will spend time studying the history of recollection through drawing, written word, and photography. We will ask the question, "Why keep track?"
There will be a field trip to apply these skills. Travel photographs are about being in the moment and capturing your unique relationship in pictures.
I have been portrait photographer my entire professional career. When I traveled outside of my culture was no longer the directive portrait photographer, but an observer. This forced me to develop an entirely new approach to seeing.
