Length: 3 days
Level: Beginner
Instructor: Erik Newquist
Location: 7082 Flagler Rd., Marrowstone Island, WA

Join instructor Erik Newquist for 3 days of fire, dirt, and noise in a working blacksmith shop where students will learn to forge iron and carbon steel and make tools of the boat building trade.

The course will cover making reefing irons, reefing hooks, and caulking irons.  We will then delve into the world of cutting tools, forging chisels and a draw knife from raw bar stock, heat treating them and attaching a handle.  The finished tools will last a lifetime and students will leave knowing how to make and modify many of their own tools.
