May 20th - 5th Annual Cake Picnic
Immediately following the Rhody Festival Grand Parade we serve over 2000 slices of free Cake and host a massive inter-generational dance party downtown Port Townsend. Its a simple event that provides our community the opportunity to eat and dance together while hosting neighboring communities, Royalties, Marching Bands and many others.
Once upon a time the people of Port Townsend would get together and enjoy massive community feasts. In the late 1800's and early 1900's Joe Kuhn was known for producing community clam bakes that would serve 1200+ people. The “CAKE PICNIC” provides our community with an opportunity to bring back an old tradition and celebrate our rich local culture.
