No joke, the opening day of the Port Townsend Saturday Farmers Market is on April Fools Day!
Opening Day Details:
9am: Opening ceremony with red ribbon cutting
9:15am: Goat parade. Costumes encouraged.
10am: Chef demo with Jefferson Healthcare's Executive Chef, Arran Stark
11am-1:45pm: Live music by Jack Dwyer
9am to 2pm: +70 new and returning local farms; artisan food; craft cider, wine and beer; as well as arts and crafts vendors.
This wet, cold and even snowy winter and early spring left its muddy footprint on local farms. Jefferson County farmers are working hard to get crops planted and tend new seedlings on these early, cool spring days. Despite the wet and cold weather, farmers will be at market on April 1st with mixed spring salad greens, spinach, raab, kale, chard, chives, tulips, pasture-raised meat, eggs and more! If your boots aren't stuck in the mud, this is a good time to get your garden bed ready. SpringRain, Midori and Red Dog Farms will have plant starts on April 1, including: lettuces, pac choi, salad greens, leeks, onions, and herbs.
In addition to local produce, your favorite artisan food and arts and crafts will be at market as well as some new food and arts vendors. Visit the market booth for your 25th anniversary t-shirt, hand-made cup by Millbrook Clayworks, veggie onesie, market poster or Flora postcard.
