The natural beauty and geography that make Port Townsend a unique place to live are the ones we need to protect in order to share it with our children. This is a both a working community and tourist destination, and so is tightly knit and very social. Because of both a small population and infinite variety of characters, many groups and organizations have sprouted and there is something going on for just about any interest.
You'll find a high number of self-employed and small businesses in the area. Retirees here become involved in both paid employment and as volunteers. Families have wonderful parks and a number of educational options. The Visitor Center can provide a Relocation Packet by mail, if you require printed materials: 360-385-2722.
The average sale price for homes in the core Uptown and Downtown areas is about $370,000 as of early-2017. There are limited rental properties. If you make less than about $50,000/year finding affordable housing is tough. Do not go by zip code - that does not reflect properties in the city and actually covers everything from Discovery Bay which is over 13 miles away.

Making sure electronics like televisions do not end up in the garbage, in landfills and ultimately in the environment, is the one way to protect people from the serious health effects of toxic chemicals and heavy metals. If your old TV still works and is in good condition, someone else may be able to use it. There are several other ways to pass on electronic items for reuse:
- Contact charities or non-profits
- Sell or recycle your item
- Use an online website such as FreeCycle
Whatever you decide to do with your computer, it is recommended that you remove all information before recycling, donating, or selling it.
