Port Townsend Gallery Walks

Gallery Walks are a favorite here in Port Townsend. Occurring the first Saturday of every month from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. , galleries and venues in the downtown waterfront district show off the work of local artists. Informal and enticing, the Gallery Walks encourage exploring the many nooks and crannies of the town's historic center. The walks are sponsored by the many galleries and venues, and a consortium of artists. A truly unique happening and all you do is show up downtown and start walking!

This Month - Saturday July 4th, 2009

Ancestral Spirits Gallery (701 Water Street) regularly features NorthWest Coast Native carvings, paintings, limited edition prints and crafts.

Earthenworks Gallery (702 Water Street) has a working relationship with many artists in a variety of styles.

Night Table by Mena QuiliciGallery 9Robin McCann Sculpture (1012 Water Street) features the work of two local artists, acrylic painter Mena Quilici and fine woodworker Robin McKann. The collaborative show is titled “Table Talk”. Mena Quilici presents a dozen new paintings in her signature rich hues. Each includes a table, and each invites the viewer to complete an unfinished story. A bed and red night table, with an open book and eye glasses awaits their absent reader; a purple table overlooking the water with empty coffee mugs seems recently abandoned; and an easel table with a painting in progress waits for the artist’s return. Bright, bold and whimsical, this delightful new series just needs the viewer to add their stories and assemble the pieces. Robin McKann's furniture and sculpture blends the inherent beauty of the wood itself with curved carvings and inlays. With a master's attention in the details his pieces are functional works of art that are destined to become tomorrow's antiques. His new work expands his vision of a greener world where our relationship with wood begins with a stewardship for the trees.

Port Townsend Gallery (715 Water Street) our Featured Artists rotate monthly so there is always something fresh to see.

William's Gallery (914 Water Street) presents Allan Bruce Zee who has been exploring the art of photography since 1969. Now living in Port Townsend, Allan was born in Chicago, Illinois, where his first artwork was exhibited at the age of 12 at the Art Institute of Chicago. He began photographing while pursuing a career as a psychotherapist. After graduating from college, he purchased a Pentax Spotmatic 35mm camera to take with him to Europe. It is the camera he still uses for all of his photographs. He was given his first show at a gallery in Philadelphia where he was attending medical school. Leaving medical school to pursue a career as a psychotherapist, he continued to exhibit his photographs in Chicago and throughout the Midwest.
